About me

Hi, I’m Esh. I started out as a physics university student figuring out how to live by myself for the first time while trying to balance academics and hobbies and friends and stress and so on. It’s not easy to feed yourself, and it’s even harder when you have dietary restrictions. It is, however, a survival skill that you should develop. I am now a physicist and I’m still figuring out how to feed myself, and this website contains the knowledge that has been thrust upon me over the years after failing to cook anything edible on more than a few occasions.

I created this website because I wanted to veganise some of my favourite non-vegan Indian recipes, and thought it would be nice to compile them somewhere. Then I realised that this is the perfect opportunity to share with the rest of the world some of the traditional and regional food from the small part of India that I call home. If I don’t have many traditional Indian recipes on here yet, then please be patient – I am working my way towards them.

I have been vegetarian since I was about 5 years old, and I became vegan when I was 21. This website is 100% vegan and is more or less tailored to my taste. I completely recommend using the recipes listed here as ‘rough guides’ and changing them to suit your preferences (yes, even the traditional ones!). That’s how I started out – reading a recipe, following it exactly, then changing something about it every time I make it until I hit upon what tastes perfect to me. I encourage you to do the same.
